Thank you for applying and for taking the time to meet our team throughout the interview process. We’ve enjoyed getting to know you, and we’re excited to jump a bit deeper into your full stack abilities through this take home project.
In 2020, the pandemic and resulting locked downs prevented many potential homebuyers from physically visiting new homes on the market. As a result, online traffic for real estate listings skyrocketed and these trends show no signs of stopping in 2023.
With this increase in online traffic, real estate agents are demanding better online portals to manage their listings.
Agents need an easy way to create listings and public links for homes they're selling. Theses links can then be shared across social media and other online channels.
To help meet this need, we'd like to roll out a new platform dedicated towards agents for just this purpose.
This new listing management product should have a couple key elements. We'll outline some product details and then technical specs below:
Agents should be able easily sign up for a new account. We want to make this very easy for them to get started - the platform will be free to use, meaning they don't need to enter any payment details or much personal information. A simple email and password should suffice!
Thankfully, the project scaffolding using Laravel Breeze (discussed later) should help with this. 😄
The core functionality of the platform will be creating, editing, and interacting with listings. Here are some features you should support:
The Dashboard
Once in their account, the agent experience should be simple. They should be able to login and see a dashboard that shows their top 10 listings, a quick action to create a new listing, or the ability to view all of their listings. The listings can be presented in a table or card view, as long as it makes sense and is easy for the agent to find what they want quickly.
On the dashboard, agents need to be able to quickly search through their listings. This is usually by the listing name or address.
Creating
When creating a listing, agents want a simple form that lets them input the listing name and address - they can add in the rest of the details later then.
